We are now in the beautiful Exumas. After a 33 hour trip from Bimini, our first Cay was Norman's, which was made famous by a notorious drug dealer. Making a long voyage like that requires some recuperation and so after a few days we moved on to an adjacent cay--Shroud Cay. We were now in the Exuma Land and Sea Park. After a great dinghy trip down a creek bordered by mangroves, the other side of the island appeared and it was much like Cape Lookout where the ocean waves are on one side and the anchorage is the more calm side. It was quite beautiful.
Our destination yesterday was the main part of the park--Warderick Wells. We had a bit of trouble yesterday with the dinghy in high waves--it tipped and we lost our gas can and our oars. I know what you are saying. Why was the gas can on the dinghy? Well, complacency ruled. Anyway, after righting the dinghy and doing a search we found the gas can afloat. Said to say, we lost the oars. We chalked it up to a good man overboard drill. Anyway, we are now again in a beautiful spot and there are wonderful reefs to explore this afternoon.
We will continue to explore the interesting cays until possibly Georgetown. We are both fine, not showing our age too much. Larry washed the bottom two days ago using his snorkel gear. He felt very smug.
Hi to all. We'll try to keep in touch as much as possible.
