For the last two days the skies have opened and shown us that indeed Florida is not always sunny. The "spirits" who make weather allowed us a few sunny days to go outside and get to our mooring in Miami. Then the rains came and our haven with Phil and Nancy (longtime friends) seemed especially welcoming. So we are enjoying the pleasures of land--seeing a movie, riding in a car, having more space, etc. Florida has been good to us in the sense that dear friends have opened their homes to us. First in St. Augustine with the Gabriels, then Melbourne with Nancy DeVos and now here in Miami. But Florida also saw a parting from Doug and MaryAnn, our sailing buddies. Hopefully we'll reunite somewhere in the Bahamas.
Having spread Phil and Nancy's address around, we are now receiving cards and such and wish to thank you all for remembering us. Here are a few pics I thought were interesting on our travels through Florida.
Larry made some new friends at the Gabriels--Bliss and Willie are two lovely guys who were rescued and, along with Paco, a third rescue, are enjoying a pampered life.
Thor is an old friend from Point of View Drive. Larry was sure he remembered us.
Nancy posed for this picture and commented that we should tell her NC friends that she is trying to make some life decisions. You go girl!
rafting in Vero Beach Our future sailors--Palm Beach--
there must have been
around 200 optis in the water.
An intriguing boat name. Can you come up with a story to explain it?
Civilization (Miami)--big time.
On to Austin!
